About:French Language
I subscribed recently to the About:French Language newsletter.
On a very regular basis, I am sent the latest instalment, which has all sorts of really practical, easy to follow tips and techniques for learning French. There is the ‘Mot du Jour’, verb conjugations and such like, all the rules and regulations that most of us last met at school, daily quotes, games and much more.
It includes many practical elements, eg. pronunciation sound bites, translations to work on and even a guide to the various gestures that are so common in French. (Chance to perfect the Gallic Shrug!)
What I like is that many of the new words are quite modern…less ‘La plume de ma tante’ and more ‘mon blog rocks!’.
Take a look, it’s a wealth of information.

MyBlogLog…what’s that all about?
Tonight, I have been messing about on MyBlogLog. At this stage, I’m still not sure what it’s all about, but they are a friendly bunch and have made me feel quite welcome.
It is a good way to find new blogs to read. It offers blog stat information and natty little widgets, that show you who has been reading your blog. (Not that I can put it into my sidebar! Only for WP.org people at the moment). Much mention is made of ‘communities’, something I am still attempting to fathom.
I feel a bit of a fraud really. It would appear that most of the other blogs are much more sophisticated than mine. There are a lot of techy, blog help and tip blogs, how to make a fortune with adsense type blogs and altogether more ‘intelligent’ blogs than my poor, ‘then I did this, then we did that’ blog. Oh well, some of us are looking at the stars!
I shall let you know how I get on….unless of course you can give me a few pointers….
Edit: Having thought a bit more about this, I think the word I was struggling to find was ‘domestic’…my blog is very domestic! Maybe pedestrian even, parochial perhaps?!

Trident’s replacement to be provided by Ryanair
I regularly check out Newsbiscuit. It’s a spoof news site which is very funny and entertaining. Well worth a look.
I caught this article and only hope it doesn’t put the price of a flight to Bergerac through the roof!

French News in English
I was reading the Independent this morning and came across this article….France to take on ‘le rosbif’ TV.
It looks interesting…it means I’ll be able to understand what is happening in my new adopted country, before I can speak their language!(Particularly to a ‘news-worthy’ standard!) It will be quite an eye-opener, I’m sure, to have a contrast to the BBC/Sky News perspective.
News from a French point of view….all I have to do is find out how to tune into the right channel!

FeedBurner
You may have noticed a link on the RHS that enables you to sign-up for an automatic notification/newsletter whenever Beauregard…The Blog is updated.
It is free and easy to subscribe to. All you need do is input your email address, send back the activation to Feedburner when they send it to you and sit back and wait for me to do another post! It is easy to un-subscribe, if you so desire and I have no knowledge of your email address…so I couldn’t (and wouldn’t anyway!) send it out to the wrong people….and that’s a promise.
So please, click on the link and every time I update the blog, you will be the first to know!
Edit: Having checked up on FeedBurner since writing this post, I have discovered that I do get a record of your email address if you choose to subscribe to the Newsletter.
But, as I said before, I would never divulge this info to scammers and hackers and anyone else who may be interested in this sort of thing.
However, if you subscribe to the feed, (at the top), I have no idea who you are!
